Key Ingredients and Their Benefits:

Blueberry: In holistic traditions, blueberries are revered as a powerful antioxidant powerhouse, rich in anthocyanins that help combat oxidative stress and reduce systemic inflammation. Their ability to support the immune system and protect cells from damage benefits overall health by maintaining the body's resilience against environmental stressors and infections. They are also valued for promoting cardiovascular health, which ensures efficient oxygen delivery throughout the body, including the lungs.

Elderberry: In holistic practices, elderberry is celebrated primarily for its potent antiviral and immune-boosting properties, particularly in supporting the respiratory system during cold and flu season. It is believed to help shorten the duration and severity of viral infections by inhibiting the virus's ability to replicate and by stimulating the immune system's response. Additionally, its high concentration of antioxidants (anthocyanins) may help to reduce inflammation in the body, potentially soothing irritated tissues and supporting overall respiratory wellness.

Hibiscus: In holistic traditions, hibiscus is primarily valued for its potent antioxidant properties and its ability to support cardiovascular health by helping to regulate blood pressure. While not a direct respiratory remedy like mullein or thyme, its high vitamin C content and anti-inflammatory effects can indirectly support lung health by strengthening the immune system and reducing systemic inflammation. Additionally, its naturally tart flavor and cooling energy are often used to "clear heat" from the body and to promote a sense of calm.

White Peony Tea: In holistic and Chinese medicine traditions, white peony tea is valued for its ability to nourish the blood, calm the mind, and support liver health. Camellia sinensis (White Peony), contains high levels of antioxidants that may help to reduce inflammation and support the immune system, indirectly benefiting overall respiratory and cardiovascular wellness.

How to Brew:

This Summer blend is crafter to be enjoyed either hot or cold. It is recommended that you follow these instructions to brew it, first, hot and then add ice or chill. By first brewing it hot, you are extracting as many of the essential oils, nutrients, and flavors as possible from the botanicals. If you brew it cold (i.e. as "Sun Tea") then you will not extract the full potency of the blend.

Measurement: 1 tbs of loose leaf tea per 8 oz. of boiling water (160 degrees F. recommended for best results)

Steep Time: 10 minutes with the top of the cup/tea pot covered to retain essential oils OR use a French Press for tea/coffee. If steeping in a cup or tea pot, use an infuser for best results.

Sweetener: Sweeten to preference while warm so that the sweetener dissolves completely. It is recommended that if you are sweetening with honey, do so when the tea has cooled to 100 degrees F. or cooler to retain the natural nutritional benefits of the honey.
