The Story Behind Petal & Herb Tea Company

My love affair with plants began when I was about six years old, working alongside my grandmother in her garden. I learned early that a garden was more than a place where things grew. It was a living classroom—a place to observe, experiment, nurture, and discover. Those early days spent with my grandmother planted a curiosity that has followed me throughout my life.

I have always been fascinated by the natural world, especially by the remarkable chemistry of plants. In high school, honors organic chemistry was one of my favorite subjects, and by the time I was in college, I was already teaching others about the traditional uses and medicinal properties of plants. I have recreated myself many times over the years, following different paths and exploring different passions, but I have always found my way back to the natural world.

In 2010, I started a small artisan yarn company, combining my love of natural fibers, creativity, and craftsmanship. A few years later, I left my career as a secondary English teacher and, together with my husband, took another leap of faith: we bought a farm and began raising sheep for their wool.

Farm life brought me full circle. Working with the land, growing food, caring for animals, and learning the rhythms of the seasons reminded me how deeply connected our well-being is to the natural world. For the past several years, farming has been my primary focus. We still raise sheep today, and our farm continues to be at the heart of everything I do.

The COVID-19 pandemic eventually brought my yarn company to an end, but it also opened the door to a new chapter. Last year, my long-standing interest in herbal medicine was rekindled, and I began pursuing additional education and certifications through private wellness institutes in the United States and Australia. That journey is ongoing, and I continue to study, learn, and deepen my understanding of natural wellness.

The idea for Petal & Herb Tea Company grew from a very personal place.

I began creating herbal tea blends for myself and my family, particularly during times when we were looking for natural ways to support the body through illness, recovery, and injury. Eventually, some of the athletes connected with a local semi-professional hockey team began asking me to create blends for them as well. I found myself returning again and again to the plants I had loved and studied for much of my life—and realizing that this was the path I wanted to pursue.

As my knowledge and experience grew, I completed the certifications and professional training I needed to qualify to practice as a natural medicine practitioner in Georgia. I have received certifications from the Hyamson Institute of Natural and Complementary Medicine and I hold a fully accredited certification in Natural Medicine and Herbalism through Udemy. I continue to pursue education because I believe that learning should never stop, especially when it comes to something as important as our well-being.

I created Petal & Herb Tea Company because I believe there is a missing link in the way many American women approach wellness and longevity. We live in a world filled with increasingly complex solutions, yet sometimes the most meaningful answers can be found in something much simpler: nourishing ourselves, reconnecting with nature, and supporting our bodies and minds with thoughtfully chosen plants.

For me, organic and holistic wellness is not simply a trend. It is a way of life.

My family grows food and medicinal herbs on our own farm, and whenever possible, I want those plants to become part of the teas we create. There is something deeply meaningful about knowing what you grow, knowing how you grow it, and knowing that the plants you are working with have never been treated with commercial pesticides. Our farm is managed organically, and that connection to the land is an important part of the philosophy behind Petal & Herb Tea Company.

I believe that the ingredients we choose matter. The way we grow them matters. And the intention behind what we create matters.

Petal & Herb Tea Company is my vision for a wellness brand created especially with women in mind—a brand inspired by the belief that women deserve simple, thoughtful ways to nurture their health, mental clarity, energy, and sense of balance.

Women are the backbone of our families, our communities, our workplaces, and our society. We give so much of ourselves to the people and things we care about. My hope is that Petal & Herb Tea Company encourages women to make space for themselves, too.

Through thoughtfully crafted herbal and tea blends, education, and a return to the wisdom of the natural world, I hope to create something that feels both grounding and empowering—a reminder that wellness does not always have to be complicated.

Sometimes, it begins with a garden.

Sometimes, it begins with a cup of tea.

And sometimes, it begins with remembering where we came from.
